In addition to the paintings of Alexandra Jacobs, we also feature the work of other distinguished artists. Our currently featured artist is Giancarlo Caponi of Fucecchio, Italy. Giancarlo captures the moment between daily reality and the realm of metaphysical wonder. These “painted dreams” are vivid evocations of the fantastic; Pinocchio in a quiet Tuscan village, fish swimming through the serene blue sky and midnight at the circus.
Although completely faithful to his own inner vision, Giancarlo inherits the mantle of an illustrious tradition. A descendant of the Florentine artists who defined the Renaissance, he also is directly influenced by Carlo Carrá and Ottone Rosai, two painters from the early twentieth century. Their powerful renderings of the Tuscan landscapes and peasantry are symbolic of Giancarlo’s rich heritage — an environment in which his dreams live and breathe.

Art critic Gianni Pozzi on Giancarlo’s work:
“His paintings are illustrations of a magic world, where daily events become echoes of a fairy tale, the adventures of an antique puppet in the Tuscan countryside.”
